Hey MVS members,
Got DTC p0497 more and more recently, and I'm feeling hesitation, reduced MPG, and harder acceleration.
So, I'm looking to replace the EVAP Vapor Canister Purge Valve - (Part no. 9470775) on my
2004 S80 2.5T AWD- part is in hand as we speak.
I searched high and low, but the exact whereabouts of this valve's location eludes me.
I've found diagrams from Volvo manuals and part lists depicting it, but I don't know where exactly it is, and forums mentioning the valve only do it in passing, with little detail of where exactly it is.
For the record, I am not talking about the solenoid.
The part looks like this.
Is it in the bumper or something?
If not, is it a place I can access without a mechanic?
Also, I'm seeing this other valve- same name and compatible vehicle model: (here).
Are there really two?
Do I have to replace them both to get my acceleration, mpg and response back?
(I know where this one is- I saw it in the engine bay)
Thanks in advance!

My college-fried brain thought that front thing was a tire well or speaker or something.
I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I find it.

That didn't help.
Here's what I saw when I removed the top cover like the OP did: (here)
[In order from top to bottom: Left side, Top (general), distance shot, regular Purge Valve and "Boost Pressure Solenoid Valve". See captions as well]
EDIT: I think the OP you linked to simply found the regular Purge Valve. From what I understand, these two parts are not the same(?).
Someone once commented that my Volvo could have been made at the turn of the model year- just as they where switching things up for 2005 models.
Could the Evap Vapor Canister Purge Valve be somewhere else?

Go back to RickParkerHale's post and zoom in - look for #10. It is on the radiator. If not, it is of the design I linked to and you show an FCP part. In your pictures you show it and correctly identify it.
Do you have the original part in hand or the old part? It could be as you say - you have a newer design and ordered and are looking for the wrong part.

So that must be it, then.
The design must be the newer, cylindrical design depicted on the other post and on FCP.
This model must truly be "caught between times".
I installed a new radiator in the Volvo on Saturday and saw nothing that looked like the diagram.
Guess I have to order this other one now....fun.
