Just comparing this to the coil colors on the 99 model hereRickHaleParker wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 06:51I missed that, he did reinstall the old plugs on #1 & #2.
Two things misfire on adjacente cylinders is a symptom of are:
1. Blown head gasket between the two cylinders, which is possible but unlikely in this case.
2. Misinterpreting the layout of the wiring harness and getting the two connectors to the coil packs swapped.
Each of the five coil pack have one wire that is a different color then the other coil packs.
Cylinder #1 Blue wire.
Cylinder #2 Brown wire.
Cylinder #3 Red/White wire.
Cylinder #4 Pink wire.
Cylinder #5 Violet wire.

..it look s like Volvo has changed the Colour of the “ odd” wires, which are the ground trigger wires going To the ECU over the model years , so it might be smart to document individual models and years.

I would be nice if they used the Electronics Color Code across year and models but that would be too rational.

Hi there! I just changed spark plugs on my 07 s40 with auto zone iridium Denso. Started and the motor was vibrating like crazy, and gasoline smell is so strong. I checked everything: exposed/ damaged wiring, vacuum hoses, making sure I put the same coil as I numbered them. Not my first time changing plugs. Scratching my head... Long story short, I went to Google search and found one interesting video clip that make sense: I PUT A LITTLE TOO MUCH OF DIE ELECTRIC GREASE. Cleaned them all up, now the car runs very smooth.
