Hi...
I just posted this in the wrong place on an old post... sorry about that..
But here is my Question can anyone tell if the VVT Hub rotation is a Smooth action?
I feel a Roughnees as a turn it back and forth.
I started to experience a roughness in my engine a few weeks ago did all the normal checking Vacuum leak,Duct work leak, Spark plugs, Coils, PVC system, timing check.... Unable to find anything wrong... Now I got a Check engine Light , Code P0016. Oil is a few weeks old Mobile 1.
Every sensor has been replaced (3) (Got Spares from Less mileage cars..) Both sensors on the Front and Rear Exhaust Cam and Checked the Screen on the oil port, both Sensors are fine. Crankshaft sensor I metered out and compared to 2 others same Readings but replaced it anyways.

So now I got the timing belt off again and i don't remember when I replace the head if the VVT Hub had this Feel or if it was spring loaded, Should it be a Smooth turning Action.?

Anyone?? 02 V70 xc auto.

Thanks Guys..
Jay

Yo Abscate!
How are you?
Do you know of if it's supposta turn those 3,4 teeth counter clockwise smoothly? I read some are spring loaded some aren't. Does that make a difference?

Without the belt on it, it should spring back and forth pretty smoothly, I don't remember any significant roughness. Obviously, I'm talking about a little movement, before it hits the opened valves

Ok
I think it's shot what should be that spring action is gone and it is a rough feeling as i rotate it counter clockwise. . The cams are locked with the cam lock tool...
Now to find a used one , unless Abscate has one for sale...
Thank you Oragex.

I think it’s pretty smooth. Pull the part number off it of you can see it, I think I have an intake CVVT from my 1999 401k parts car, though.

On edit. Found part number 5030523 on your other thread

Hi Abscate/Steve
I'll check for the numbers now..
That's alot of miles...
Would you reuse it on your own car?
Hate to have to redo this anytime soon....
What are you asking for it?
PM me or email [email protected]

Thanks
Jay

I found a vvt hub looks like new same part number from a 03 v70 xc. Froze my feet and fingers getting it off... what a pita. !
I'll update if this resolves the engine running rough or not...
