You have "Full Synthetic" oil unless you are using Mogul, Redline, Amsoil or such which are group 4 or 5 oils whose base stock is laboratory made hince synthetic and labeled 100% Synthetic. Mobil one, Valvoline, Castrol, and everything else sitting on a discount auto parts shelf or even the dealership's service department are group 3 oil made from crude oil base stock (Hydrocrack crude).natural4reelz wrote: β03 Mar 2019, 18:18 Thats what i got in now is 100% Synthetic oil....

You really do!!!
You r a great teacher!!!!
Im not afraid of getting dirty... its im very visual p rson and well you know ....
Thanks to MVS I learned I was getting group 3 oil at the dealer and did some research which lead me to Redline a group 5 oil made from Esters and over time have been melting the crud away like melting wax. 100% synthetic oil is quite a bit more expensive and not on your store shelves. After all if it was the cat would get out of the bag that you are overpaying for a crude oil product.
My feeling is with 3k oil changes performed by Volvo, there is no excuse for any gunk in my engine... but yet there it was the first time I had to add oil in 2016 due to a leaky rear cam seal. Boy was I upset! Around 2002 when I got the first T6 I noticed the oil turned nasty in 2K miles. It wasn't the T6 but the oil companies got the court's permission to label Hydrocrack crude as "full Synthetic" and the oil companies got the license to steal our money! I'll attach photos of 3K group 3 oil in my engine and 3K group 5 Redline oil in my same engine no flushing was done. The first few changes turned darker than now. I assume it was gunk melting into the oil. I'll add photos of both oils at the dipstick of my engine both having 3K miles. The difference is stunning!
There is a excellent post with photos on a T6 S80 getting a PCV system service with step by step instructions. Maybe Abscate would be kind enough to link to it. All turbo white block engines are similar PCV wise. June
