Remote fob question

Post by Craig »

Can anybody tell me which design of remote fob I'm supposed to have for a 1996 T5 gle? I Know there are two but dont know which one.

The one I have is slim and has two buttons one below the other, not the square one with two small buttons side by side.

If I had the wrong remote, would this explain why my remote works but only if its held right up against the glass break sensor?. :?

sounds like a dead battery. If you had the wrong remote, it wouldn't work, at all.

Na its not the battery, I have tried to code a brand new fob in the past and got exactly the same result... I dont know if its a fault in the alarm somewhere or if I have the wrong fob.

The relay is rather large .. maybe it just needs to be re-seated ..and the fob reprogrammed..

If the remote works, even if only at extremely close range, then you have the correct remote, and it is properly programmed. This sounds like a receiver problem, since you claim the battery is good.

The remotes were not engineered well. I've read of many that just get worse over their lifetime. Mine is this way. Unless I press the unlock button *very* quickly, it acts as though I pressed Lock. Batteries new/old doesn't matter much. Range is max 20 feet.

I have the big button over little button.
