Any value in ?rebuildable 1999 V70 Base Front axle cores?

Post by paredown »

Haven't been around for a while--sold the Volvo when I got to sick to wrench myself.

This week I'm cleaning up, and found the Volvo CV axle OEM cores that I insisted be returned when I was forced to get axle replacements in a hurry.

Since I have not looked at these for at least four or five years I can't remember exactly what failed--I know that the driver's side axle actually pulled out, and one of the three sealed bearings on the tripod part of the CV shaft end broke. They definitely need new boots etc. as well. I have vague recollections of finding a source for these bearing kits in the UK.

Just checked--looks like you can order the correct part directly from Febest for $25:

(I'd need to confirm this is the actual one, but is listed as compatible)

Question--since I know that the OEM axles are the only ones worth having, do these have any value? My original plan was to rebuild them and swap them back in, but never got to it.)

(I'll get some pictures up soon)
