Programing NEW key with Vida 2015 2006 C70

Post by willyghost »

Hi Guys,
I am the new owner of a 2006 Volvo c70, Car came with only one key and dealer is asking for 350+ for new key, so I have been doing some research and decided to do it myself with Vida 2015 and dice. I think i understood most of the process or will at least try my best, My biggest doubts are the following, My key is part number 30772198, Will i have to purchase 2 software downloads as in one to program the Immobiliser and one to program the FOB ? Or will ignition key software also program the wireless FOB ? My second question is my car says number of keys in system is 3 but i only have 1 in my possession so i would like to remove the keys i dont have, my understanding is with the vida software i am able to remove the stored keys but by doing this it will remove all the programmed keys, so lets assume i remove stored keys, and then begin to add new keys, i will be able to add the new key i purchased because it comes with the necessary codes, but what about the key i currently have in my possession ? I do not have any codes for that key will i still be able to program it ? Or are the codes that come with the package only to program the FOB and not needed to program the key ? Sorry for the long post but this is just sort of confusing... Any tips or procedures links would be much appreciated. Thank you !

Your not going to be able to purchase software downloads. Bypassing security is not that easy.

.
Read this page.

"To be able to purchase and download software to vehicles, independent operators need to contact an authorized Volvo dealer, even if the operator has a VIDA subscription with the software ordering and download package included."

Line 1 says not apllicable for the US Market, there are laws that protect consumers in the US in this case it's the Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act.

There have been many before that made the same arguments you are making.
Go for it and share your experience. If you do, you would be the first one that did more then disappear into thin air.

I have read on many forums about many different volvo owners who have programmed their own keys at home with Vida/Dice. So I will try it as soon as I am setup and let you know how it goes... as for my original question it still maintains. Do I have to purchase two indepent software downloads and If I remove all keys will I be able to program my existing working key or do i need the "codes" ? Thanks

That may have been in the past and I have read many accounts of garage operators and individuals doing this however it seems Volvo cars USA has changed its tactics and no longer allows software downloads for independent operators.

I've been a member of this forum since 2010 and have read of many instances of independent garage owners doing a software download.

Because the newer cars have City Safety with auto-steer, lane assist and auto-brake they want to keep the public away from any form of tampering with the on-board systems, even if it means blocking this function to owners of older cars without these systems.
