Re: Decision of 2019, cleanest s70 in the U.S?
You definitely won’t get the repair money back. A 300k mile car always needs a contingency budget of $2000 to address high mileage stuff, and you can still get a lower mile T5 or R for the same money.
We had a Member here score a sonic blue P2 R with 200k for under 5k, for example.

You need to be realistic with the prices, you are not even in the ballpark. Someone could buy a much newer Volvo in much better shape for what you think you are going to get. If you keep the prices the way they are you are going to have no hits at all. I sold my S70 in EXCELLENT condition (i.e. needed nothing and met the criteria for excellent which few do) for 2500.00. You think you're going to get more than this for a car that by your own admission belongs in a boneyard? Good luck to you, try to be realistic with what you are selling.

for price comparison. In your area, working gearbox, a third the miles, clean interior.
Unfortunately these cars are worthless to most buyers, a curiosity but not something to buy except if it's throwaway money cheap. You may have better luck on a Volvo forum, but even then 4k broken / 6k fixed is too much. I paid just under 4k for mine with 230k miles and everything working.

When it comes to listing anything for sale, you can ask for anything. But the only thing that matters is what someone will pay for it. It’s a gorgeous car and a testament to the care it received over the years. Good luck.

Greetings. Great looking car. At 310k on it most people will walk away. You didn't list any major repairs that you have done , so you are ahead already. Many of us on this board have spent more fixing our cars than they are worth.
Here's my suggestion. Ask for 2 months of your rent , utility bills , other car note , or any thing else that $1000-1850 will pay for you. Be flexible !

Well after meeting a more trusted source we fixed the most important thing which was the control arm. It was bad, he checked the timing belt and no cracks, but it will need to be done in 5k miles. Reverse works, just shudders some, all forward gears work fine. May need a pcv cleaning but thats common for these cars.

The car is officially for sale. Everything is perfect except for it shudders and struggles somewhat in reverse, sometimes it backs right up, sometimes it needs some gas to get it going, the timing belt and water pump should be changed in 4,000 miles but there are no cracks on current belt, thats just the next scheduled one. Slow coolant leak, I have to top off the coolant once every couple months. Ice cold a/c, new heater core, new front suspension, new control arm just done last week, LED Fogs, LED headlights, new headlight housing, rims are perfect been on the car since October of 18, new tires, LED license plate lights, bluetooth stereo, car comes with all the parts I have acquired over the years, even have a brand new fuel pump kit and never had to put it in. Fully tinted windshield. All door lock actuators have been replaced, new key fob works perfectly just got that last month, all dash mounts have been repaired and replaced. Asking 3,000.00. Feel free to email me at [email protected]

1999 S70 T5 For Sale

I am the second owner, I bought the car with 100,000 miles on it in 2005. I have put a lot of my money and sweat into this car but it is time to let her go.

Car is beautiful! 311,000 miles. It struggles somewhat in reverse, it always will go in reverse however it needs some time to get there, sometimes it backs right up, sometimes it needs some gas to get it going, I have a friend with a manual swap for t5 willing to sell it for $900.00 shipped. The timing belt and water pump should be changed in 4,000 miles but there are no cracks on current belt, thats just the next scheduled one. Slow coolant leak, I have to top off the coolant once every month, CEL light on for vvti code, nothing major, it probably needs a PCV cleaning also. Ice cold a/c, new heater core, new front suspension, new control arms, new battery installed last week, LED Fogs, LED headlights, brand new headlight housings, brand new foglight housings, rims are perfect with no scratches they have been on the car since October of '18, new tires, LED license plate lights, bluetooth stereo, car comes with all the parts I have acquired over the years, even have a brand new fuel pump kit and never had to put it in. Fully tinted windshield. All door lock actuators have been replaced, new key fob works perfectly just got that last month, all dash mounts have been repaired and replaced. Asking 3,000.00. Re: 1999 S70 T5 For Sale
Nice car, I like the wheels. But yes, that behavior with the reverse is pretty much a last gasp sign of the transmission, depending on how much it is driven, it could be a goner at anytime. But it does give the buyer a good reason for the swap.
