When we come back up, things will be a little scattered, some 404s on things like images. At that point I'll be in serious Mach 5 cleanup mode.
I'll post here in a bit with more info about ETA for downtime.

I reverted to the old server until I can sort out the problems.
Good news: things are running right again.
Bad news: the posts between last night at 5:30pm and now are gone*. To those who posted, I'm very sorry. I take this stuff seriously and I didn't make the server switch without due diligence. But the work I did wasn't enough.
There were serious issues I didn't foresee. I'm going to go back to the drawing board and make this happen, but only after more work to find out where the problems are and how to overcome them.
Again, to those who have lost posts, I apologize.
* they're not gone. I'll retrieve them as text.

Hi Matthew,
MVS is a great location of expertise and resources to come to, and I want to say I really appreciate your efforts in what it takes to keep a busy server up and running.
With the new update I noticed a high rate of server timeouts and other things, which can become frustrating for sure and take loads of time to make any progress.
Fortunately for me, when ever I make posts, here or on other forums, I always do CRTL-A followed by CRTL-C to copy all my post and often past into a simple text editor until I know it posted successfully.
Oddly, the two post I made last night posted fine, but as you mentioned, all posts made in those difficult hours were lost from the server, but luckily are still sitting in drafts in my Thunderbird mail application, so it won't be too much bother to copy back over again.
