From bad to worse: Need to remove exhaust manifold/cat from 3.2 engine

Post by nvail1983 »

Hello,
I found myself in a situation that went from bad to worse... I was attempting to replace my mid exhaust section on my '08 XC90 (3.2 engine). When disconnecting the mid section from the catalytic converters/exhaust manifolds, 5 of the 8 bolts snapped. I believe my best option is to extract the catalytic converters and the drill/tap the bolt holes. I'm totally stumped though on how to get the cats/manifolds out of the vehicle. It almost looks as if the engine has to be pulled. I haven't been able to find any documentation online.

Is there a voice of 1st hand experience out there? Thank you!
