What is this mystery connector?

Post by justanotherhumanoid »

Hey all, hopefully someone can help me solve this mystery...

Had my airbox out and found a seemingly random, disconnected electrical connector underneath it towards the driver's side. No idea what it is supposed to go to, couldn't trace the cable very well and ran out of time to figure it out (it was late), but I did snap these pics... first is birds eye view with my headlamp shining on it, second is an up close pic. I'm not the first owner so I can't say for sure that it was ever actually connected to anything. Inside the connector appears dirty as though it hasn't been connected to anything in a while, if it ever was. Anyone know what it is?

Mad props to whichever master volvo mech knows this off the top of their head.

First thought is that Euro and us headlights, or perhaps it's halogen and xenon, don't use the same connectors on all models even though the wiring is there on all of them. I've got a spare connector for the headlights somewhere around there.
