I wish I knew. My car didn't come with a remote fob, unfortunately. Is there any way to find out?

I've got the side by side fob for you (PM'ed), but I'll reply here so maybe someone can answer this -- are you sure that you have the remote opener radio receiver in your car? I had a '96 850R which didn't have the receiver and had to put one in. OR, it did have the receiver in the other place (under the dash by the driver's right leg, I think) and I didn't know it. Anyway, I swapped in a receiver from another 850, (then later bought another for the donor). The receivers I had fit behind the glove box on the right hand side inner dash shell, not hard to get to after removing the glove box. So I don't know if all the 850s came with remotes. Part number on the receivers I had was 9148645 and they worked with the side by side fob. $17 shipped for the my side by side fob -- I think I got I for $25 off ebay a few years back.

96 was the split year, if the receiver is behind/beside the glove box (earlier style) then side-by-side remote, if it is under the console (later style) then top-bottom remote. My 96's have all been side-by-side but I have spare(s) of both types.

Today I finally got a chance to take the glove box out to have a look.
I indeed have the receiver next to the glove compartment, so I need the side by side remote with oval buttons for my 850.
