I don't have a Volvo PN for this particular TCV, but the Pierburg PN is 7.22908.03.0.

So I decided to check my CBV with a vacuum pump yesterday, and at 15 in-hg, it slowly bleeds dust to 0 within 25-30 seconds. I know the diaphragm is good, but I have heard of the cover being warped and unable to seal. Is this normal behavior for the CBV or is it leaking?

Overall the symptoms I’ve experienced this whole time point to either the TCV or CBV, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the problem.

What happens if you pressurize it? I’m not sure vacuum testing it tells you much - it’s supposed to “let go” when the manifold has vacuum instead of pressure, right?

My CBV, with an iPD HD unit in it was definitely leaking around the edges though, and the piston style new one is very tight indeed.

I have not tried pressurizing it, my old Mac cooling system pressure tester that I use for that stuff blew out the last time I used it. I did, however, test the CBV on my GLT in the same way and the results were the same, so I assume it's fine.

I believe that's how it works though, when the engine goes into vacuum it releases excess boost pressure.
