Putting a 2001 C70 Dashboard into 1999 S70

Post by 800artfreed »

Has anyone taken a dash from a 2001 C70 and put it into an older S70? My 1999 GLT has the worst noisy dash of the 3 V-S 70s I own. I am not so enthused about rebuilding the original dash (done that twice) plus I would like to have the C70 upgraded center speaker and sound system if it is still in the PnP yard. Thanks in advance

You can use the dash out of a 1996–2005 C70, 1996–2000 V70 or 1997–2000 S70. They are all P80 platform.

Make sure you get the Amp, the wiring looms and all 11 high end Dynaudio speakers with that SC-901.

Thanks for the info. I have previously pulled a sc900 out of another s70 in the past. I knew about the amp and the special center channel connector for the center channel speaker. I didn't think about the Dynaudio speakers! In the standard stereo system I only count 8 speakers. With the center channel that makes 9. Where are the additional 2 speakers located? I can't remember if I pulled the amp wiring harness on the previous extraction. The center channel speaker harness will come out with the dash pad. The standard doors have one speaker each. The rear seat "deck" has 2 speakers. Are there additional rear door "tweeters"? Since I am leaving the country in a few days it is a lot to pull in the limited amount of time I have.

On my '98 C70 Coupe:
Dash: Left-Center-Right for a subtotal of 3.
Doors: Two each side for a subtotal of 4
Rear deck: Two assemblies (Woofer and tweeter) for a subtotal of 4.
Grand total 3+4+4 = 11.

Most likely your not counting the tweeters on the rear deck.

Heads up: To get the rear speakers without damaging the speaker grills, Remove the back seat then disassemble the deck. Afterwards you can ship the speaker grills to me .... I need a pair. :o

Thanks. Yes you are correct I did not know of the deck tweeters. After I researched the Dynaudio threads on other sites I recognized the Dynaudio system replaces the coaxial speakers with a midrange + tweeter arrangement. That's the plus 2 speakers for a total of eleven! :)
