13t boost questions

Turbo technitions I need your input, I have a 98 v70 awd that is my new project car. I am curious if I get a custom tune what is the max boost I can efficiently run this turbo up to with stock setup and what kind of power gains can I expect?

That should be a 15t in there? Is it a low pressure turbo 2.4? or 2.3T? If its the 2.4 better leave it alone.

The ‘98 should have a 13G or 16T.

V70 AWD/XC have a 13T and c. 193 bhp. These are good turbos as standard as they have a fair amount of torque low down in the rev band. Surprised a few cars with my 98 XC at the lights!

I'm about positive it's the 2.4 with a 13T, I have 3 of them and would like to get a tune and run about 10# boost run the cutoff at about 11.5 psi, these lpt engines are getting more and more popular as mild build projects.
I will be rebuilding this block eventually with stouter internals long term I want a sequential setup on this car. Fyi this is not my daily I drive a silverado as a daily. I want to make this car a little snappier while I'm rebuilding the donet block!

The td04-13 doesnt make a lot of volume so it sort of gets swallowed up at high rpm and open throttle with a 2.4 later engine. I dont think it would make more than 5 psi at full rpm and throttle if even. You can find out by disconnecting and plugging the wastegate vac. line but go easy at low rpm. at low rpm it could make 15lbs and maby bend a rod. You dont really need a tune unless you are going to increase the turbo size. there is no harm in an uncontrolled small turbo, just dont lend the car out and feather the throttle from a stop.
there are specs out there for volume of air per psi for turbos, and you can figure the volume of air digested by 2.4 liter engines at a rpm corrected by added pressure.

I think without a tune the computer registers over boost and compensates with fuel then the car falls on its face at least that's how my wife's 2000 lpt works anything over I think 6 or 7 psi it cuts fuel and falls on its face and recovers again a few seconds later. Were the pre 2000 cars different?

not sure when boost pressure became part of the ECU input. 2000 im guessing, could be 99. Im only guessing, but people use the 99 and 98 ECU in 850's so must not have boost pressure input.
