Ok, stick with me for a minute, thanks.
I had a few fault codes to clear on the 850 so seeing as I hadnt done it on a while I refreshed my memory via Roberts YOUTUBE videos then went outside to clear the codes,
After successfully clearing all the codes, one transmission code and a brake sensor (pedal) code I was feeling pretty pleased with myself.
So I thought I would create a fault to throw a code and practise removing it.
To produce a code I un- hooked the main loom at the ABS by lifting the large cam locking lever until the terminals were visible inside the ABS controller then reattached the connection by pushing the large cam lever back down, everything seemed to seat in correctly and I checked the dash, sure enough my ABS light was on.

Now I tested the OBD 1 and find I have a 444 code which is the only code showing on any of the A box terminals of the OBD 1, having read the code I went ahead and cleared it successfully, all good, or so I thought.

When I turned the ignition on again the ABS light was still up, so I re checked the OBD 1 at the A box, all showed the customary NO CODE 1-1-1, weird !
I re read them again but sure enough 1-1-1 on all terminals but the ABS dash light remains on.
Finally I checked the ABS loom connection at the ABS ( large cam lever depressed ) all good.
Any ideas or input will be gratefully received, Many thanks for your reply/s. Cheers Buster.

Try driving it a few hundred feet. It goes through an initialization process and after everything checks out it extinguishes the light.
