I recently had a chronic lower back injury that took 3 weeks to heal and counting. In my own P2 V70 T5 2001 my back had zero tolerance for these seats and I had to recline the driver's seat to 15 degrees to get there in one piece. No such problem in my wife's 2006 XC90 which was so much more.supportive as you mentioned.

My seat is so badly sagging in my T5 that I have to pull it apart these Easter holidays to see where the problem lies.....or just swap in.a junkyard seat. The issue is the tailbone is handling most of my weight so I often need to walk it out after a long journey just to loosen up.

Oragex is it possible to put an early XC90 seat in my 2001 T5?

Sagging of the lower pad seems to be a common problem in the early models as Volvo sells an improved version of the pad.
On my 2002 V70, the sagging was already quite bad when I bought it at 60k miles. As a result, the seating position is not ideal for the lower part of the back because you sit lower than originally intended.

The absolutely best seat in the P2 were the 1st generation S80 optional interior. It was standard on the Executive. My 2002 was a Executive and had this interior. It was nearly the sister interior to the 960 Royal. No other seat came close to its comfort. You will be hard pressed to find anyone else on here that drove a Royal or a Executive. 2004 through 2006 any S80 could have the 5 seat version of this interior as a option. So much more common in 04 and 05. To say "more common" is only relative to the super rare S80 Executive. June

I don't think I've ever seen that back seat configuration before.

That said even the regular seats in the early S80 were by far some of the best Volvo has made. Super comfortable while still keeping you stuck properly in place while turning. They've really lowered the bar since with shorter seat cushions among other things. I haven't tried the SPA seats with extendable leg rests though.

Here are some pictures of the standard interior vs. Optional interior for the 1998-2006 P2 S80. You are right even the standard interior is better than any other Volvo seat in P2, but the optional seats were better beyond that. Notice the difference especially the lower cushion and center back design. June

I think that might have been called the soft leather option here.

Though personally I actually prefer cloth to leather* as a surface to sit on and the velvet used on the half leather interior was really nice on these. I think the new premium wool interior looks brilliant for the same reason.

*At least leather without ventilation built in.

Those optional seats in the S80 sure look impressive - I also feel the S80 seats are slightly longer so perhaps some extra comfort for taller drivers

@ precopster I would think the XC90 being made from 2003-up, if would have the newer seating frame/design as the 2004-up S60, if this is true, it will not fit in a 2001-2003. But if I find a good XC90 passenger seat one day, I'll will try to be sure if it works or not.

However, you may replace at least the bottom section from either an early S80 (like I did on my 2003) or from a 01-03 upper trim S60. This is in fact the reason I replaced mine, it was sagging and uncomfortable. For the upper section it is possible to insert some foam material where the lumbar area is, or to add the upgraded lumbar mechanism - this is what I did and now I'm perfectly fine with the seat, it is very comfortable and with good back support - I'm quite picky about this with my 6ft frame and some lower back pain

Well June...MDK here. I read your post and I don't think an XC90 will fit an S60. The floor pans are different. If you're satisfied with the overall appearance and mechanical condition of the car... you may want to take it to an upholstery shop and let them replace the lower padding. Although the heated seat is woven into the padding itself. If the leather is good.. maybe a good option...my opinion. MDK

Those are P2 S80 seats not XC90 seats. So will a P2 S80 seat fit into a P2 S60? I believe the OP has a P2 V70 actually so would a P2 S80 seat fit a P2 V70? June
