Ok, so today I booked it into my local indy auto electrician for fault code reading. Unfortunately they got nothing.
“Unable to communicate with abs or srs or cem. Needs to go to Volvo for software update” is what they wrote on the job card.
My local Volvo service dept. gleefully inform me I’ll need to leave it with them for a day so they can spend 3-4 hours talking to my car, at a cost of up to $400.... So, spend $400 on diagnostics that may not pinpoint a problem, or pinpoints a problem that is financially advantageous to the dealer, or spend it on parts I suspect may be faulty?

Was about $680 US for the ecu, and $290 at the local dealership for programming and fault clearing. Was quoted just under $4k to have them take care of the whole job...Sett wrote: 26 Oct 2020, 14:01 Sounds like I would be up for a similar fix. What was the $$ for the repair in the end? Did you have it programmed at a dealer?
