96' 850 Fuel Pump Question

Post by 850 LPT »

My 850 has a bad fuel pump. I am dealing with a no start situation, confirmed spark is present but not getting fuel. Swapped out the fuel pump relay and still no fuel.

My question is if the Bosch pump with part number 69745 fits my car. I'm seeing some confusing information on Ebay and was wondering if you guys can clarify/ confirm. This is not easy to find elsewhere.

I think I can see Robert install one of these in an 850, but I'm not completely sure. This is the one in question:

Personally, I'd just replace the fuel pump if there is nothing wrong with the hanger.

Short answer is yes, it'll fit.

Long answer is that the price is horrendous, and you should just get the pump, without all the fixin's, unless you know its bad. Working with fuel soaked stuff is a PITA, but switching just the pump in is easy once it's all out of the car. I did it this winter, and spent about 15 minutes getting the new pump in and working, never having touched that thing before. :)

Something like this will ease the strain on your wallet: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-C70-Mk1- ... Sw8tZcePUW

But you'll need a new sock for it as well. :)

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

I ended up ordering the Delphi one from FCP for $299 (same price as the Bosch). It's expensive I know but I don't have time right now to fiddle with it and this is a confirmed fit.
Hopefully the quality is decent, but with FCP's lifetime warranty I don't really have to worry.

don't use anything but Bosch. why would you use an off brand thats the same price? You might be advice proof as so many are, which is fine as long as they arnt asking. It will work fine given that statistically none 850s will be on the road in 2 years.

^^^^^^This, they have the same warranty as FCP and they still sponsor MVS. Also use the link at the top of the page for eEuroparts if you can.

Wow, fuel pump seems to be a hot topic here.

So in order to avoid public flogging I ordered a Bosch fuel pump today.
That means the 850 will sit in my driveway for YET another week, but it's certainly worth it if I can keep my membership on MVS :D
