Hy Buddies,
I have technicals questions. I will pick up my new 850 (called Blue) on Saturday far as 1000 kms from home. Bus from home to Geneva airport, then plane to Amsterdam.
The seller can't tell me when the timing and serpentine belts have been changed the last time. Volvo Cars garage doesn't exist anymore and has been replaced by a Volvo Trucks garage. So, no solution to get the historic of Blue.
If I succeed in find the rights belts for blue, is it possible to change them without unscrew the all circuit ?
If I lose the belt tensionner with the white plastic clip, will I be able to put it back without problem ?
I need wrenches 10 - 12 , torx 25, wrench for the damper pulley (24 or 34), a tool to block the plastic panel inside the wing, do I forget something ?
And I have no tool to block cams, will it be possible also to change the belts so ?
Last one : have you guys, the picture of which way install these belts ?
Thanks to you all.
Manov

Re: 850 2.5L 20 V Rescue
Just drive it back home Manov - it will be fine. The belts last at least 50% longer than the service interval, and Amsterdam to Greboble is about 500 miles? Thats only one week driving

I drove my V70 137,00 miles past the 105,000 mile timing belt interval. If the belt looks ok and there are no noises from the pulleys or water pump seepage, Drive it home and enjoy Chardonnay on the trip (I think that is your famous wine??)
Promise Blue you will fix her when you get home.

... a small one before the road...
I need to buy stuff for blue; I will use IPD link from the website. The engine parts search asked me for the type of fuel system. How may I know ?
- H 3.2 (BOSCH LH 3.2 ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION)
or
- ME4.3 ( BOSCH MOTRONIC 4.3 FUEL INJECTION)
or
- CHARDONNAY ENGINE INJECTION FUELED ?

Re: 850 2.5L 20 V Rescue
good advice to just drive it home. You are more apt to make a mistake under pressure on the side of the road. You could take the one 12mm bolt that holds the cover off and look at the belt for a More relaxing trip. takes 3 minutes. as previously posted, if you have a water pump leak: that can seize up immediately and break the belt.

Pull the cover of the ECU box located in the passenger side, front corner of the engine compartment. Take a picture and post it here.
