So, the c. 90 mile round trip test drive back and forth to work reveals Ruby Red to be driving smooth as glass. I did not think it was bad before. This is spectacular. The only thing I dislike about the XC70 is the exterior styling. They are just not attractive cars.

You should have asked for Ruby Red as a P2.

That was/I said a great deal, even better than Evita! Please avoid Nissan Rogues...

Yesterday, actually. First oil change on wife's newish to us 2007 S80 3.2L. Owner's manual lists sump capacity as 7.8 quarts. Should I be concerned that it took close to 8.5 qts. to reach top of dipstick fill region? I let the bulk of the fill sit overnight before topping up this a.m.

Getting the oil filter out is a bit of a trick. I never took the filter cap out of the vehicle, I just put it on its side and slid the filter and O-ring off that way. I had to lift the power steering reservoir out of the way and needed a 1/2 drive wobble joint and 10" extension to get the filter cap off with a 36 mm socket. The design is a bit of a puzzler, but I didn't take the press on engine cover off either. That might have made it easier.

That doesn't sound right. If you only put in seven and a half and it reads overfull, then it hasn't gotten into the filter yet and will come down. But if you put eight and a half qts in....then there are eight and a half qts in it. It's too full.

If the dipstick wasn't pushed all the way in, it could read too low.

Oversized filter? Holds more oil?

It isn't reading overfilled. I am basing the amount in the system on the amount of oil added based on a rough reading of the markings on the side of the 5 quart oil jugs from which I filled. At 7.5 quarts it was barely registering above the "twist" at the very tip of the dipstick. Took almost another full quart to get it to the "full" mark on the dipstick. Dipstick is fully seated. I checked and double checked. There are postings on other fora (forgive me father for I have sinned) suggesting that the 7.8 quarts specification for the 3.2l I6 is not accurate, and the actual amount required is closer to 9 quarts. Just wondering if that matches anyone's experience here.

Evan , other than being on the dipstick it won’t make any difference to engine operation if you have 7,8,9 quarts/liters in the sump. Just find the amount that gets it mid range on level ground, enter it into the log, and roll. Check after a hot run, 15 minute drip down, too.

Got the brake booster seal from URO, waiting now for a moment to install it - in fact I will first practice a little at the junkyard. Have to say the quality looks good, there is some silicone grease and the pipe used to press the thing has an angled end (important) and the URO video also shows an important part about bending the lip of the seal at @2:30
