Volvos on-screen (Internet Movie Cars Database (IMCDb.org))

Post by prwood »

I have noticed over the past few years that often, when a superhero-oriented tv show or movie wants to show how badass a particular hero or villain is, they will depict them coming into contact with a Volvo in some way or another. Makes sense, because if you can smash a Volvo with your bare hands... anyway. I was searching to see if anyone else noticed this, and I came across a site I had never before encountered:

https://www.imcdb.org/

You can use their search function to search for any combination of make, model, and tv show or movie title, or you can browse our favorite make here: https://www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Volvo.html

Thought this thread could be a fun place to keep track of any notable sightings. This was the most recent one I saw: https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1075084-V ... ent2510401 Image

I have noticed that Volvo cars are everywhere on screen. In the last season of Braking bad Walter White steals a beautiful 240. He was going to damage it with a screwdriver but instead found the spare key over the visor. I was so glad the car wasn't damaged in the show.

A 740 GLT or GLE was destroyed in a recent movie about a evil foster child. I was so upset it was run into a shipping dock area. The evil girl died in the car and the social worker got out. So the car was the hero. I can't remember the name of the movie.

Also the zomby movie a few years back with the modern 70 wagon in the beginning of the movie is crashed at high speed and the main character + family open the doors and step out. What other car company makes a car you can crash head on at high speed and step out unhurt? Only Volvo does. This makes Volvo cars great for scenes like that.

And many more classic Volvo cars have cameo appearances all over the place. They must be becoming popular to be seen driving in Hollywood movies. June

Found the beautiful 740 I was referring to and even worse it has the intercooler badge. It makes me sick they sank that car in the ocean! The movie is Case 39. I sure wish I had my original Volvo 740 GLT still... June
