Key remote fob V70 to 850

Post by manovlov »

Hy

my question is pretty simple : I have a V70 from 1998 which is going to go away, being replace by blue, my new 850 wagon.

Both have key remote fob, the V70 - 2, in good state, The 850 - 1 functional.

What have I to do if I want transfer the V70 installation to the 850 ? knowing that a can't introduce the original 850 key in the driver door lock cause something may be in. The idea would be to replace all lock of the 850 by the V70 ones.

I've read an interesting post on KRF, but not sure it was responding to my questions.

Gentlemen.

I believe the pre 1999 ( usually labeled in auto world by -1998) key fobs program manually without software, there is a simple procedure to follow to teach the fob to work with the new car

I’ll look for it and link here

If the security set ups across the pond are anything like
the ones in US spec P80's, you have two very different
systems between late MY 850's and the '98 70 series cars.
Can you post pics of the two fobs?

I can confirm the procedure worked on my 96 850 in the states. Although I was told to hit the lock and unlock buttons at the same time.

I'm unsure about the compatibility of fobs between years.

SWMBO just said, snow in the forecast for tonight.

Have a better night than I'm going to...

Older one 433.93MHz is made by TRW with specified temperatures -20C to 50C

Newer is 418MHz - by some AFL/Stribel Gmbh and specified operating temperatures -10C (14F) to 70C (158F)

Edit: Older one i mean buttons are aligned in horizontal.
Newer one has vertical alignment and larger buttons.
