Installing Volvo VIDA in same laptop as BMW ISTA?

Post by cn90 »

Hi guys,

I own a 2006 BMW X5 and a 2005 Volvo XC90.

I already have a Dell E4600 laptop (windows 7 32-bit Professional) with BMW ISTA on it.
Can I install Volvo VIDA into the same laptop?

This is b/c I do not want to have 2 separate laptops.

Has anyone in this forum done this, i.e., installing both BMW and Volvo diagnostic software in the same laptop?

Should just be resource limited on hard drive and memory, of course.

If you run Renault and BMW software I imaginot you need a wall between them

I can’t get my neutral stop software to work on my Swiss laptop.

I know some dealers that run two or more mfr's interrogation stuff on their VIDA PCs successfully. You may have to change some port settings for the car connection hardware.

The biggest problem will be the risk that the BMW system will make your Volvo leak oil.
On the other hand the Volvo system may clog up your BMW's crankcase vent system.

Before installing VIDA watch The Icicle Thief, then do it fearlessly.
