2004 V70 Turbo Coolant Hose: made in Turkey (used to be "made in Spain")

Just replaced the Turbo outlet hose on my 2004 V70.

Per FCPEuro, PN 31439471 is interchangeable with 30713305. 30713305a, 30713305, 31104675.

Photo showed "Silicone Insert" as in the photo below, but when I received it, the plastic bag clearly says Volvo Genuine part.
I ordered the one on the LEFT, but received the one on the RIGHT (in the photo):

1. It is no longer made in Spain, it is now made in Turkey.
2. The Silicone insert is no longer there, it is just straight rubber hose as far as my eyes can tell.

Looks like good quality but the question is, has anyone noticed that Volvo switched from "Silicone Insert" (Spain) to "no Silicone Insert" (Turkey)?

Interesting.

I just replaced a bunch of cooling system hoses on my 99' S70 and opted to install REIN hoses.
Those are all made in Turkey as well.
98' S70, base, 5-speed manual, pewter/ tan, 148k miles
06' V70, auto, willow green/ charcoal, 161k miles

If the manufacturer is same, then REIN is as good -- love free trade.
Oil cooler lines are now Turkey type too.

The REIN hoses appear to be good quality. Very good (snug) fit, and they come with clamps.
Plus they are half of the price than oem.

The manufacturing chain is complex with partial forming in Spain, then final forming and testing in Turkey , redistribution and inventory in Spain, but origin is a Turkey

With so much back and forth, one could say the Rein in Spain is mainly In the plane....

The reason for this thread is that...

In 2013, the factory hose on my 1998 S70 GLT bulged at 150K. It was Sunday, so I replaced with a 3/8-inch heater hose I had lying around.
Exactly 2y/24K later, the heater hose developed a pinhole leak with "Low Coolant Message". I then replaced with the proper Volvo OEM hose (at that time it was made in Spain).

The current hose (made in Turkey) looks like a good hose, probably just generic heater hose. I don't know how long this hose will last. But I leave the factory hose in the trunk just in case.

Someone told me that Volvo now outsources a company to go and look for supplier for Volvo parts. Now with the Chinese in the ownership, who knows which company they will use...

All evidence points to Geely being a lot more concerned about quality and Volvos trademark than Ford ever was.

Just make sure you take that nice OEM hose and use an Oettinger (best), closed face (next best) clamp on it.

No point buying quality and then using drugstore clamps (I have some on my 1999 that have to go)

I've got two new Volvo struts, they both came with the white label. Previously the label was either orange or blue (mine were blue), struts made in Germany. This time the labels were white ("unified design") and one strut was made in Turkey. Not really happy about that move: all previous moves from Western/Northern Europe to other parts of the world was a death sentence to quality and longevity :(

Decided to beat my 4 y.o. German struts to death before replacing them with Turkish.
