Be aware that too much modifier may glaze the friction plates and they start to slip.

Thanks for the post on "too much" lubegaurd VTL. I was wondering about that. Someone was talking about adding a little REDLINE after a full flush.

Yikes...I thought 1 bottle was, more or less, recommended or an 1 oz per liter of atf.

Mine started slipping slightly after about 4 oz into original 1161640 ATF, which I'm suspecting for having extra modifiers compared to other T-IV like ATFs.

Glazing is easy to fix: replace ATF, let HFM wear out. It is naturally wears out along with the friction material, and is replenished from ATF.

MDK...so after reading you all's post about the lube gaurd additive. And one man was saying even a 10 oz bottle may cause it to slip over time. Add to the fact that I just did a full flush on both my 2002 V-70 non turbo and my 2004 R car. I've decided to put 1/2 a bottle in one..half a bottle in the other. .. rolling on.

Note. Some have recommended that for older transmissions, it is gentler to them to just do the drain and fill. But then to repeat the process after a few weeks or months. This dilutes the older fluid to 50%, 25% 12.5% and so on at each change.
I'm at 180k miles (2004 xc70). gears shift well on plain and downhill, but uphills feel like a slip here and there, more than usual.
My fluid has lost its "pink hue" and now looks a bit toward brown (not dark yet).

Volvo dealer service, Firestone and jiffy lube say not to flush transmission fluid and that they rather not do it (Firestone said they won't at all), saying transmission might fail after a flush.

I guess doing the pan drain/fill wound be best in terms of my car. ("dilute it" every few weeks)

If I dont know what fluid originally was put in, is it ok to mix with the other 3309 brands or should i do Volvo OEM ATF?

Also, seems easier t odo the Flush method.
you think doing that method for just 4-5 quarts would be better ?

Volvo OEM ATF is the best, Idemitsu Type-TLS is a good match.

You can do 3 drain'n'fills, need about 12 quarts for that. Less mess and still is good enough.

Is this Seafoam tune up product compatible with Volvo OEM ATF fluid or other jws3309 fluid?

Do not add any "tune up" product to ATF. Better change ATF.
