Thx XC70Rider. While I am on the topic can anyone tell me where the AT plug is? I will assume the oil drain plug is the one directly straight back and off to the driver's side of the oil filter but I am not sure where the ATF plug is.

I wrote a DIY ATF change for 1998 S70 and 2005 XC90 2.5T.

The AT drain plug requires 24-mm wrench.

The large ATF drain plug is on the bottom right side of the AT facing the engine. If you don't have a 24mm wrench then a 15/16" will work. The crush washer is same size for both engine and AT drain plug. The ATF needs to fully warmed up driving via all gears before the drain. You'll drain ~3.5 quarts. Measure what comes out and add in new 3309 ATF via the dipstick.

Are the P2 models the one that people inadvertently ruin their transmissions removing the wrong fill plug?

Now you are scaring me. When abscate said "bottom ride side of the AT facing the engine", I am not even sure which square metal pan that is. Is he speaking of leaning towards the drivers side if the car?
