It produces that error if VIDA is not installed on the machine.
The patch is not VIDA.
VIDA 2014D was designed to run on a dealer's network. The patch patches VIDA so that it will run standalone on one machine.
Go back to the thread where you found that patch. Read the top of page 6 for instructions on installing 2104D_RePack and about 1/2 way down page 16 for new instructions on how to start the 2014D_RePack download.
Probably about time to write some updated install instructions. That thread is getting long in the tooth but you can still learn a lot by reading the whole thread.

What do you mean by DVD?
I just downloaded the packed file to my desktop and tried to extract it to C/: but the error came up.

VIDA was distributed on a double layered DVD (8.5GB). The file you need to install VIDA is a iso file about 6GB in size. It can be burned to a double layer DVD or it can be mounted and used as a DVD. Another option is to copy all the files to a hard drive and install from there.
The error came up because you do not have VIDA installed. You need to get the VIDA 2014D_RePack ISO downloaded. I pointed the way.I just downloaded the packed file to my desktop and tried to extract it to C/: but the error came up.

Hey guys just to finish this thread off. It was a combination of 2 things giving me this intermittent no start problem.
First off, the engine coolant temp sensor tested out fine but I decided to change it anyway, this solved the warm no start condition. However I was still getting an intermittent crank no start condition.
I ended up finding a cheap ignition antenna and I was 50/50 that this could be the cause but decided what the hell. Put it in and now it has been 3 weeks without problem. Car runs perfectly aside some sweet smelling white smoke on start up until warm and a small oil leak down the back of the engine (thinking it could be turbo seals starting to go).
All in all, lesson learnt. If a sensor tests out fine, still follow your gut.
Thanks guys for all of your help
Kerry

How is your sweet smelling white smoke issue? That could be antifreeze being burned away. On an old '70 BMW 2002 I had a burned out head. Coolant accumulated in one of the cylinders. Upon start up it burned off with same type of smoke. After engine reached operating temperature it was fine. After a few months I pulled the head. Leaking head gasket allowed the antifreeze into the combustion chamber. It burned a hole near the exhaust valve seat of that cylinder. I replaced the head.
