Hi all.

Just joined the forum after buying my first volvo. I have a 2006 v70r (jap import). 55k miles. It comes with the 6 speed auto box, so presume this is one of the later boxes which (I hope has the newer Haldex). Has new suspension all round which wasn't installed correctly at the back, so got a fair few hundred quid knocked off for that one.

A few known issues:

Needs new disks and pads
Rear wiper doesn't work
Rear washer leaks into cabin (needs a new plastic connector)
Stereo doesn't work (could be din cable to amp, back in the multicoloured spaghetti tomorrow). Going to get it sorted and then replace with an android head unit.
Battery keeps going flat because I keep leaving the keys in it (was driving an A6 where I just jumped in a pressed a button to start and jumped out at the other end, it's taking a while to get used to a key again)
Strange Japanese sat nav needs removing. Pop up screen on dash has been replaced with something ugly. Sat nav will be on the new head unit, so probably just going to blank it off.

Got it booked in at the garage tomorrow so we can check underneath and all four corners. Probably start adding a bit to the list.

This place has been great help already.

Country of origin = Sweden.

Leaving the key in the ignition shouldn’t run the battery down. Leaving the key turned “ON” will run it dead.

She certainly looks nice and has low mileage!

If she sat for awhile then check for seal leaks.

Okey dokey - back from the garage where I've been under the car.

This car looks like it's never been driven in the wet. It is spotless underneath (and pretty much completely under sealed). Suspension all good baring a bit of dodgy clipping up of cable by the ten thumbed spanner monkey who changed the suspension. He also torqued the whells up to around 1 billion Nm.

Bad bits:

Anti rollbar bushings looking a bit perished. Still fine at the minute though.
Heat shield/outer layer on back box is rusting. Exhaust still fine.
Going to need to look at AWD. Front and back box is a bit oily (only bits that are)
Needs new rear pads

Good bits:
Nearly everyone in the garage loves it
Being asked if it used to be a showcar as it's so clean and straight underneath.
Watching the guy trying to undo wheel nuts
Brakes aren't as bad as I thought they'd be

Overall I'm really, really, happy with the car. For a 14 year old car, it's in top notch shape. Hasn't thrown up any fault codes and looks very straight and rust free.

Just need to sort the rainbow spaghetti for the stereo, treat the leather and fix rear wiper and we're good to go.

As far as the oil on the underside of the transfer case/bevel gear, look up above it, up to the turbo. Just about every turbo P2 I've looked at leaks at the turbo's oil return line. It's really nothing to freak out about if this is the case. All of our cars leak a little bit from that exact spot.

Thanks very much. Back in the garage tomorrow (rear pads, handbrake cable, aircon recharge and wheel alignment) so I'll have a look.

Underside of the car doesn't look like that now. The wife drove off in it the other day and I could see mud and grass hanging off it
