Driving without that hose will cause a vacuum leak. For a temporary fix get a matching diameter vacuum hose at the auto store. You can mount the temporary hose with worm clamps until you install the Genuine Volvo hose. As mentioned earlier the hose can be installed without removing the intake manifold. After you install a hose give it the 'Glove Test'.
