Hey guys, could use some guidance here. My ‘07 xc90 v8 is in the shop again for the 4th time in 5 months for fuel pump issues.
Back in 11/18, car wouldn’t start, would crank but not start up. Took it to Mechanic A who stated it was a bad fuel pump. $1,200 later it’s fixed...for one day, then fails again. Take it back to that shop, and they replace it again.
Fast forward to 01/19, car does again and wont start. Take it to Mechanic B who states that not only did the fuel pump fail again, but the fuel pump module was corroded and shorting our fuel pump. Replaced both, along with filter and fuses/relay to be safe.
Fast forward to now and the car is having the same symptom and it’s back to Mechanic B. Mech said it’s getting no fuel at the engine but needs to do a deeper dive to figure it out.
Any ideas? We don’t have a Volvo dealer in town that has VIDA, and the shops that do charge $150/hr ugh.

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=83957 , this thread has a good overview of a representative V8 fuel delivery system above and beyond the found cause (kinked secondary tank pickup hose).
That you've put in more than one pump is perhaps indicative that it's not the pump itself.
