Front ball joint for XC70 2004, Do Base model and 2.5T use the exact same part ?

Hi,

I am ordering front ball joints for my XC70 2004 2.5T

I am also replacing the front lower table, in this case ebay item 273430197710

It seems to be the same lower control arm for both Base AND 2.5T

However when I go to buy the ball joint, for instance ebay item 122087681184

It says

This part is not compatible with 2004 Volvo XC70 2.5T Wagon 4-Door 2.5L 2521CC 154Cu. In. l5 GAS DOHC Turbocharged.
and
This part is compatible with 1 vehicle(s) matching 2004 Volvo XC70 Base Wagon 4-Door 2.5L 2521CC l5 GAS DOHC Turbocharged.

Is this an error ? Are there really different front ball joint for Base and 2.5T ?

Go to FCP Euro for far more accurate part listings. Buying from some eBay sellers can be so risky.

If you're not satisfied with that get a running copy of Vida installed. Once you have a part number from Vida you can go to Tasca Parts and see if it's been updated by Volvo. So far this method hasn't failed me yet.

Critical safety related parts and eBay don't mix. Too much counterfeiting.

Get pricing from Volvo, IPD, FCP, eEuro and if your eBay price is different, run away.

I tried on FCP euro, I selected volvo xc70 2004 and then it auto-selected base model as if there was no difference between part trims.

The Volvo web store have the VIDA parts diagrams and you can enter your VIN To nail this down, too

Good thing you asked here, you are about to buy very poor quality parts - the ebay 273430197710 122087681184 Search a little on internet about inexpensive parts, plus these are safety critical parts. You will be replacing them again after 6months/1year

The 'base' and 2.5T XC70 are same car, the XC70 was only delivered with the 2.5T engine

2.5T is Base (2.4T for 2001-2).

Same ball joint anyway, whether base or XC. I once tried a cheap brand of ball joint on a XC70 2001 and couldn't get it seated correctly. Wasted time and effort. Lemforder make great parts for Volvo if they're the real thing.
