Any good 850 techs out there? Got a challenge for you

Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.

Well today I rechecked compression.cleaned plugs AND she started right up..smoked like pig but ran perfect. Same thing as last week.runs perfect if it starts..does anybody know the test value of crankshaft sensor??? That is the only other thing I touched today.

Did you check your ECT sensor connector yet?

Seriously, check it/clean it.

What about main fuel injection relay?
Did you checked it's connection?
It's the grey one VOLVO on the fan shroud.

Yes cleaned ect connector.it was nasty and rubber inside goo. Cleaned good continuity resistance varies with temp.but it still no run
..today fired up running better than it should. Scared what happens in a.m.all I did was recheck compression and valve timing..cranked right up ??? I did have a priest in my car when I drove past..heehee

Could be that cranking,when you re-checked compression,cleared the excessive fuel from cylinders.
Could be that it was just flooded.

I have been fighting this thing for a week. Pulled and cleaned plugs 4 times.flushed fuel sys. New gas.92.

clouds of smoke that's not black indicate not fuel related. you have a bad head gasket letting oil or coolant in to the cylinders. you have to give more info on coolant level and if this car is on the road or only started when you tinker with it.
