Door Handle Does Nothing

Hi,

The inside door handle on the passenger side does not do anything when pulled. No noise and the door does not open.

How hard is it to fix the linkage on these things, or could it be worse? v70 1998

If the outside handle works fine, I would expect it to be a simple fix. If the linkage has fallen off then reconnect it, if the cable has broken then replace the inside-handle-and-cable assembly (junkyard trip there). Those are my two guesses.

I'd get on it soon, as you don't if the other handle stops working then things get much more difficult to fix simply because you can't get the door open to remove the panel. When you do pop off the panel to actually figure out what is wrong, you may want to buy a couple new plastic snap connectors. The 20 year old ones tend to break easily.

This. I helped my buddy fix his P2 S60 with the same symptoms, simple quick reconnect fix.

Hi,

Oh thanks to you all for the suggestions, especially about the fact that if the outside goes bad too im screwed.
The sunroof idea also sounds good, if i had one. Another way out.

You know what blows? I found out when a very significant lady friend tried to open the door. I was embarrassed to no end. I had to open the window so she could reach out and use the outside handle if needed. Of course i open the door for her anyway but i hated that she had to experience that.

It's strange that i did not experience the problem before that.
I have had other passengers before that.
