XC60 overheating when idling
XC60 overheating when idling
My XC60 is occasionally showing a hot engine light but always when idling or in traffic, never on the highway. The engine seems quite hot and the AC occasionally does not blow cold. If I turn the AC off for a bit it seems to kick in. The AC often does not work when car is idling. I checked the cooling fan when idling and it runs when the AC is off and stops when it’s on??

Mine is doing the same , and the fan runs after turning off engine , causing the battery to drain. Curious If you ever found the solution?

Might be a bit late to help you. But, for the sake of others....
I had the same issue with my wife's. Overheating and the fan would not turn off. It was the fan control module. Volvo will only sell a complete fan and module assembly. Which was AUD1,000. However, there was noting wrong with the fan, it was just the controller which is really just a fancy relay.
I bought an aftermarket fan controller from this amazon store.

I installed it a few months ago and haven't had a problem since.
