Is there a turbine-like whining noise when you rev over 1,500rpm?

Symptoms point to either a transmission pump failure or filter screen blockage.

Have you done any recent work on one of the axles such it might not be fully connected at the splines? (Long shot, I know.)

All the above + too low fluid will cause the car not to move - however since you can't drive the car, you can't measure the fluid because it can get warmed up enough to get a good lecture

That is not true.

You can check ATF level with engine OFF and COLD.

I posted the trick in forum, you just need to know where on the ATF dipstick to look at.

I see this every day...people post messages to get help and yet the most essential info such as year, model and mileage is rarely posted? Maybe we can read people's mind?

Yeah cn90...people panic when they breakdown. Year make and mileage are essential. You know they could have a broken passenger side axle. That happened to me on my 1997 850 R wagon...
