I narrowed mine down to the blower just by changing the fan speed. The squealing would get quieter or louder relative to the speed.

I should have mentioned, mine doesn't vary with the blower speed, or stop when I turn off the blower.

Aside from a relay or the blower motor, what could it be? Your sound system? Some alarm that's dying? Something battery powered in your glove box that has a battery going dead? The blower the first thing I thought of when you said a hamster, but there are a lot of us who don't know what a hamster in a habitrail sounds like. Maybe a description that is a little bit less wry and a little bit more accurately descriptive would help.

Wry..that’s with the FAN switch on 0? Model year 1999 and 2000 might still work blower to keep the Evap dry with the switch off. If you open the cabin filter tray up front you can see it to see if that it’s.

Oh, and technically your hamster lives in FRONT of your glove box, in mechanic speak.

There was a real funny post from some guy in Florida about 10 years or so ago on VolvoSpeed that actually did have an Iguana take up residence in his dashboard.

Ha that's hilarious about the iguana.

Is that cabin filter tray under the hood?

Remove two torx T20 or T25 and then pry up the plastic cowl

The filter just pops up , then you can see the fan and hamsters

At 2:10 you can see the fan

I've likened it to a woodpecker in my dashboard. It's usually the door dampeners try to open / close. There like little servo motors you see on an R/C cars. Try this...set A/C to auto mode..turn off recirculation. When you first start your car...do the lights BLINK on the HVAC control panel? If so you need to have it scanned by vida. There are five door dampeners motors altogether...MDK
