I am trying to swap out the headlight ballast in my wife's 2012 XC70 T6 and cannot seem to remove the 12V plug from the socket on the ballast. I tried applying pressure to the plug release tab with a small screwdriver seriously disfiguring the tab in the process (see link to image). I stopped short of completely mangling the connector. I cannot seem to remove the plug from the socket on the ballast. What am I missing here? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!

Have you solved this issue? Are you intending to replace a bad unit? If so use carburetor cleaner or electrical contact cleaner and spray the area down. If it does not work then submerge the area and let it soak for a bit. Test it on the wiring to see if it becomes sticky just in case.
Worse case slit the sides of the socket and use two thin flat heads to pry it out from the opposite sides.
