2004 S60 - Door Shut with Handle Cable Detached. What to do? Topic is solved

I was replacing the window regulator clips on my 2004 S60 today and had the door panel off. Plugged the window/lock/speaker wires back in, confirmed the window was working, etc., put the rest of the panel back on completely, and shut the door.

Only to find I couldn't open it again, at which point I realized I never reconnected the cable to the door handle.

I have no idea what the next step here is. I would guess there's still some kind of locksmith tool that would work in this situation? I can't imagine anything I could do from the interior with the panel in place.

You will need to remove the panel for sure.

So...confessing the obvious here, but I'm an idiot and did not realize that just because the *inside* door handle was detached, did not mean the *outside* one would not work.

So I have successfully now walked around the car and opened it from the outside. Thanks for your patience, y'all.

THAT'S GREAT! Sorry, I was actually afraid to ask the obvious in fear of insulting you. I had rebuilt the motor in the locking mechanism on my 03 S80 T6 recently so was about to look up the door diagram to see if it was possible to get in there without involving a Slim Jim. I'm gonna ask the obvious next time.

Trust me, it’s much worse when your 6year old tells you the solution.

Once you have had these things apart you might get that there are two unlock mechanisms, but until that isn’t intuitive.
