04 XC70 Parking Brake Adjustment
I just replaced the parking brake shoes after the originals fell apart (shoe linings became free from the metal). It has been awhile since they came apart and now that they are replaced, I get almost no grab when the handle pulled all the way up. The originals were good and tight with just 2 or 3 clicks. I have confirmed that they were installed correctly. Is there some adjustment to make at the brake shoe expander? I know you can take the console apart and tighten the cable there but it seems like something is not right.

inside the vehicle, near the handbrake lever. push up the plastic trim under the lever, there is a 10mm bolt underneath the lever.

1997, S 90, the rear ashtray removed, carefully pry up the plastic trim to expose the adjuster nut. You will need an open end wrench, 10mm I think. a few easy turns (as much as needed) .will get the emergency brake lever to tighten. Fun the first time, you will be an expert on the second.
