Flexplate compatibility between models
Flexplate compatibility between models
I have a 2002 XC V70, my query is which models would the flexplate be interchangeable with?

I suggest doing a part # look up from a site like Lisle Volvo where you can enter your specific VIN then cross referencing that part # to other models.
Another strategy would be to determine the engine designation type https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_V70
and then figure out what other models used that motor.
It is very likely that the flex plate was used across a wide variety of cars.

Are you having some nasty sounds when the starter gear hits the ring gear?
If so, this might be of interest viewtopic.php?f=9&t=87132
I recently replaced a flywheel on one of our P2 AWD Volvos. It had one of the infamous "bad flywheels" that seems to have been installed in an extremely small representation of these cars.
The car was our 04 2.5T V70 AWD & I replaced it with a flywheel out of an 06 2.5T XC90, so yeah, there's a lot of models that you can swap flywheels from/to.
I got my replacement for $40 at Strandberg Auto in Centuria WI. Give them a call, tell them what you have & what you want to replace & they will tell you what you need.
