1999 v70R stolen key solution? FIXED! now chasing other issues.
So I recently had my shop broken into and they stole the keys to a few cars including my v70r. My question is that I do have a running parts 99 v70r with the key. Is it possible to swap the ignition, imobilizer, ecm and TCU over. And is there a CEM in there that I cant seem to locate? The reason I'm looking for a solution is closest place that can get a key and program it is 270 miles away. Thanks for any advice!

I don't believe the CEM is addressable on this year unlike the newer cars.

Not sure what you meant by addressable but I swapped every module I could find over and it cranks but still no injector pulse. I dont have an ETS light on but also cant get my scanner to communicate going to give it one more shot tomorrow then if no go it will just have to sit and wait till I drag it somewhere to have a new key programmed.

Are you sure you don't have an antenna ring issue? Reason I ask is being as they stole the keys, the next logical thing would be to steal the car.Roverguy88 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 23:55 Not sure what you meant by addressable but I swapped every module I could find over and it cranks but still no injector pulse. Being as they didn't steal it, I'd be inclined to think either they couldn't start it, or they plan on coming back in the near future to steal it. Could accidentally put all 4 corners on blocks, odds are they won't look, they will start it and then get frustrated to heck - hopefully you'll hear it and be able to intervene before they remove the key again...
By not addressable, I mean it's essentially a dumb module that I don't believe has programming or anything special in this particular year. I could be incorrect...

At the time they stole the keys the engine was torn down thank God but that was another reason I was wanting to swap my ignition and key. And gotcha that's what I thought as far as the CEM I am now wondering if the ETM is vin programmed or just by model theoretically if I swap all the vin coded modules it shouldn't know the difference and take the key.

Just reread your post and noticed something important - you wrote the injectors weren't pulsing. By chance, are you also devoid of spark?

I don't think you can just swap the alarm module. The ECU, the alarm module, and the key code all gets compiled into a single software package, It makes it a total PITA when you go to do anything. You can swap the cylinder and the key but you will need to get a duplicate key (or keys) and the same for the remote if that got taken as well and have a software download for the car to make it all work.
The keys and the remotes come with a code on the package that needs to be entered at the time of the software download. On an old key you have no idea what that code was. When they (the stealership) do the download they can remove the old codes from the list. I think it cost me about $600.00 to get new remotes and keys.

Haven't checked spark and yeah I figured it would be dumb luck if I got it to work I've done similar on saab and land rovers in the past with bad bcms and just swapped all the computers some of those I do have to re sync but I have an autologic for land rover.

IT'S ALIVE! I had to charge the battery up and I have a misfire but swapping the models, ecu and ignition with key from the parts car actually worked!
