Need 98 v70 xc driver seat wiring diagram

Post by CIK7 »

So here i am with no 98 v70 xc  , thinking about calling the owner to bring it back. In the meantime, im going to assume i wont get it back and turn the driver seat into a powered rolly rolly house chair :D Will convert it back if i do get it back. Im starting on the driver seat. I have most connections for it minus 1. I certainly dont want to wire in the airbag unless i wanna go flying into the back door or rolling *splat* into the wall   So i need wiring diagrams to guide me through all the wiring here. Basically i would like all functions, including heat and excluding airbag, to work (i have both button modules for the seat). I have all driver seat connections pictured. I also have the external black wiring (pictured) that will run to the wall.

That's a great idea, I've wanted to do this for a while. It would make a super comfortable chair!

Here are the diagrams for the seat heater as well as the power seats.

FWIW - The SIPS bag on a ‘98 seat is mechanical.
Be REALLY careful when you pull the side cover
with the switches. You’ll find an orange clip inside
that cover that will lock out the round mechanical
actuator under there. Not sure how to safely disable it...

Thank you so much! I have to wait to download and view them. ATT messed up my double data again and the first part ran out.
I forgot to include some info on my original post. Since the seat would not be bolted down when i lay back (and not much higher up than they normally are), i have to come up with a simple device to prevent the seat falling backwards, sooooooo with that in mind, I think im going to create a wheelie bar that i can lock and unlock at the rear center of the castor wheel contraption.

Which of the 3 cylinders manages the air bag?

....?
Are you talking about the motors inside the seat frame?
No connection at all with the bags. They just move the seat.

The little round unit I’m talking about is a charge encased
in a flying saucer shaped can on the outer SIDE of the seat.
IIRC, it’s an inch or two in diameter and maybe an inch thick.
The safety clip should be attached to the inside of the cover
panel and it slides betwen the actuater and the seat frame.

Again, it’s found under the side cover that the seat controls
are mounted in. It blows a small charge under impact that
travels up a small tube to the side bag. Hit it, you’ll know!

I've always been curious to try that at the junkyard...

Ok in reference to the pictures i posted, youll see the one connection with 2 red and orange wires. Is that the air bag? I dont have the car anymore just the seats, but i do remmber disconnecting the orange clip. The car had sat dead for about 3 years.
