CEM 2001 S60

Post by goldmandan » Fri Aug 02, 2019 4:28 pm

Where is the "Logic" kept on the CEM for 2001 S60? I know that when you slide out the empty pin board there's a few memory chips in there etc. Which one is the one that holds the Logic, VIN specific info that doesn't allow a used CEM to be transplanted to your car? If I know this I can desolder and resolder it to another good working CEM. I know on Saabs there's ONE "DIM" looking chip that can be replaced to fix this.

Any ideas greatly welcome

Dan

If is issue in the this chip? ))) You will transfer issue to another CEM, also you will get risk to damage pads when you solder chips.

OK, I had another idea. Which modules are married with the VIN? I know the CEM, ECM..... any others???? I have 6 Volvos, 4 of them are S60s, the one that has the crank no start intermittently is a 2001, I have a perfect running one, 2003. Can I remove the CEM, ECM and which other modules are married with a VIN and put it in the 2001 and it should run fine????

Hello.
Mmmmm, not easy to answer fully on your question. )))
Actually, you can do it, but, you will get a lot other problems. For example CAN signal for 2001 MY car is not the same like for 2003 MY cars. Your CEM will communicate with your ECM only, but will not communicate with others modules...

RIGHT, but my purpose is to isoalate problem in CEM or ECM........ so if I get an ECM and CEM and ignition key from another 2001 S60 or V70 with the Magnetti Marelli Throttlebody. I should be able to get the car to start every time..... no intermittent crank, no start.........
