Fake Carbon Fiber Waterfall Console

I think we are the 4th owner of our 08 C30 T5. The car was pretty filthy inside and still is. But the Waterfall Console was full of big dings and scratches. Everything in terms of replacement was expensive so decided on a cheap option. This cover up was done before I returned to the forum so no photos of the process.

I normally research before doing any work but thought it wouldn't be too bad. Wrong! The design of the Waterfall was slightly different than the S40's so had a difficult time with one screw.

The material was easier to work with after a lot of time cutting, heat, time massaging, heat, time consuming trial and trail again on the curves and corners. Should have used gloves with a heat gun but opted for a safer BBQ long tip lighter. The scene behind the panel sees some hot glue to keep things from curling. A few errors also as I tried to do everything in one piece. The door handles were a mess with patching in a few areas but the Waterfall was basically one piece with fewer mistakes. Whether it's aesthetically pleasing or not the knobs and controls are much easier on the eyes now and sort of pops.

For $9.97 ( 1 x 5 ) it was worth the try. The 3.9Mils thickness seems about right. Purchased something thinner for the S80 to cover defects in the interior and it was had a sticker look to it (well not as advertised also). Got a refund, thanks Amazon.

Not one of my better handi-work as you'll see the many obvious problems. Will have to spend sometime on Youtube before doing it again.

I like the look even if it makes me dizzy!

That six speed makes life all good, though.

The picture does make it very busy and slightly glossy. In the car it's a matte finish, very subdued and blends into the rest of the interior. Does make the buttons, knobs and panel pop so it is actually easier to see and read while driving.

Six speed is great but still getting it into 4th sometimes fearing it'll go into Reverse :? .

Not many pictures, still a work in progress (me that is). Might get moved to the S80 side but here are a few.

Mine is Ice White with the Oak/Arena two toned interior. I hate the woodgrain accents. On earlier models aluminum accents were available and look so much better. Especially with the dark interior. Pretty much you had to order it. I think something like you did on your C30 might be nice to cover the s80 woodgrain over. The Premier model had real wood that looked better, but the aluminum looked best imo. June

Pure luxury! I thought silver and beige was the ultimate color for the 1st Gen S80. If you are ever passing through RTP, NC take me for ride.

I test drove this 2006 S80 2.5T and thought the suspension and steering were in better shape than mine but the brakes were a little soft. Good thing I didn't buy it. The T6 is the right engine for the 1st Gen.

Here is a photo of one with the aluminum trim woodgrain delete option. Rare I would say. Few people order their car, and fewer carefully research optional equipment unfortunately. The silver accents really look great on our models.

I couldn't agree more that the T6 engine is the best powerplant for the 1st generation S80. June

Way ahead of its time, kind of brush nickel looking also. Not sure that would go with our beige interior though? Not sure about yours but the sun has change the shape of the plastic wood grain in many areas. So much so it would look odd / misshapen if it were in anything of a metallic looking material. Perhaps it was real aluminum back then.
