'91 Volvo 740 5.25" Front and Rear Speaker install
Trying to properly install 5.25" front and rear speakers on my '91 740 -- what brackets are needed to properly mount and install the speaker on the door card?

Volvo 850's had woofers in the doors (perhaps only the rear doors) that fit the same pattern. 89+ (or maybe 91+) 740's may have used 6 inch front door speakers. But I've seen 740 front doors without speakers, but seems that the door panels have knock-outs to fit the front speakers. 1991 740 front door panels that I have sitting here have knock-outs that can be removed to fit 6 or 6.25 inch speakers.

The person who had this car before me removed those knockouts, and now are too big to fit 5.25" speakers...

See if this suits. I'm going to get a pair of these to fit 5 1/4 speakers in the front doors of my '94 960. Sounds about maybe it's the same or very close to what you are looking for. See what you think.

Please do report back. I'd love to hear how you get along with them.
FWIW, sorry that I didn't do a very good job of communicating the fact that these particular speaker adapters that I linked to, are for the express purpose of adapting 5.25" speakers to an opening designed for 6.5" speakers. Not saying this for your benefit because you obviously understood that already. But the web page doesn't come right out and immediately identify what speaker together with what size opening. You have to kinda read all the way down the page and figure it out for yourself. At least that's the way it hit me.

My speaker adapters came in today. I held one over the existing mounting points and the holes in the adapters line up perfectly. Very pleased. Now I'll buy some 5 1/4 inch speakers to go with them and install them.
