1,350 mile drive on 179k 2009 S40

Post by Tsantos7 »

Hey y'all,

After looking at various transporting companies, I cannot find a decent one with a reputation and good reviews online. I'm moving from IL to FL and feel more at ease driving the vehicle down myself. Vehicle fully serviced at 136k at Volvo. Factory maintenance included timing belt change, wiring harness, fuel pump, O-ring, sems screws, etc.

Is the mileage too high to make this long of a trip? Advice?

Most Transport Companies online will hire a 3rd party transporter (Hit and Miss). Time, fuel, meal, hotel? and potential mechanical issues?

Best to drive with someone for company in case you do get stuck or have it shipped. I would make sure you see the car get loaded if you are going that route.
Blessings,

BKM

+1 on this. Take photos while it's being loaded, then after when you take possession of it. I see lots of damaged-car-during-transport Facebook posts.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

That's not that far. I wouldn't keep a car at all that I couldn't trust to last a trip like that. Milage shouldn't be an issue at all but rather the general condition of the car which you probably know best yourself.
