They are pricey new. I had a hard time adding it to the cart. Used - that's your call. I'd just make damn sure you get a crystal clear picture of the screen up inside of the trumpet end. The rest of the tube is pretty idiot-proof. Make sure you get a new seal for it as well. The other thing you'll need is slightly longer M7 screws for the new pickup tube. The original ones will work, but will be short. Me, I just got slightly longer M7's for peace of mine. You'll see that the bosses on the plastic pickup tube are significantly thicker than the original metal bosses. I don't remember how much longer I went over original, but just bring your original screws to FastenAll & buy accordingly (cuz you won't find M7's at any hardware store!).
I take a few chances (well thought out ones) on some of the aftermarket stuff, but this is one thing I'd prolly stick with Genuine Volvo for. Used or not.
Edit: If looking on eBay, just be careful. There are pickup tubes on there whose brand is actually "Genuine". That's the name of the brand. So in the description it looks just like you're looking at a "Genuine Volvo oil pickup tube". Gotta look at the fine print to see the actual brand/manufacturer.

Get your stuff from one of the supporting vendors here so that they stay in business and crap like this , doesn’t.Edit: If looking on eBay, just be careful. Haha I have been exempted from the fate of squishing an o ring due to dropping the oil pan of my 2001 XC70 engine while it was up on an engine stand. While the engine is rotated upside down you can hardly get it wrong
My lube of choice is either Molybdenum assembly grease or Vaseline, I don't particularly care which.
I also had the early pickup tube on the XC70 2001 which had an encrusted caked barnacle on it the size of Captain Hook's moustache!! Just as well I had the pan off as that is surely a failed rod or main bearing in the making. I wasn't aware of a revised pickup pipe good spotting, Pete!
Later that same engine was fitted to my 2001 V70T5 and run on pure, sweet synthetic for 40,000km....until the head gasket breached.

I got the updated oil pickup from FCP. I'm going to tackle it Saturday and was wondering if anyone had details on the M7 bolts you need. Are they hex cap screws or SHCS and what length do I need? I need to grab those and even though I do have a Fastenal in town, those guys were really jerks about a minimum order to buy something from them they have right there on the shelf. I'd rather order from McMaster if I can find out what I need by tomorrow (so I can order and have them Friday).
Is the longer bolt for the updated pickup tube Volvo part number 982777?

I can't answer that, all the Volvo parts stores populate the same generic data so you really don't know if that's the correct length bolt for the metal tube or the revised plastic one with the thicker bosses. I've not read of the year where the revised tube was introduced, so can't help with searching. I do know it's a simple measurement. Take your old pickup tube, measure the thickness of it's bosses. Then subtract that from the thickness of the plastic tubes bosses. Add that number to your original bolt length and get what's closest to that nearby.
And don't let the bafoons at FastenAl yank your wank. Walk in, "I need this X2", pay $1.07, walk out.
By the way, shoulder'd bolts in M7 are tough/impossible to find. I couldn't find them so just went with washer'd plain M7's and used high temp thread locker. Last thing you want is your pickup tube flopping around in the crankcase.
Chances are you'll never have to remove the pickup tube/bolts again.
Pretty sure FastenAl runs almost all their metric fasteners in 5mm increments. So just go 5mm over what your stock bolts measure.

Aren’t the intake manifold bolts on P80s shouldered M7s?
