Hello...I am ready to drill the hole and destroy as much of my filter as I can. Could you tell me how precise I need to be with location? I saw that here the washer needed to be ground, so can we Drill in the flat area? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Page 6 of this thread.
my v70 t5 having same problems as tread.

The car can move a few hundred meters only.
Then I drain and fill 3.5 liter each time around 5/6 times in the span of 6 months.
The car can moves 500-800 km before check light pops up.Transmission need service.
code is P0740 and P1618.
When the check light pop up.. The letter D etc on meter disapear.I stop the car/engine then restart..The leter D etc is ok again.
The car moves around 30/40 km before check light pop up again...when this happen,it gears feel some slipping.. and a bit jerky.

Not a filter problem. My car didn't have any codes when the filter was clogged, however 2 years later I got codes for solenoid 2 or 3 (can't recall) and I gave the car to the giant crusher in the sky because of this and other issues (heater core, head gasket & brake controller)

If codes point directly to a particular solenoid then you should have that solenoid replaced or have a rebuilt valve body fitted.

That's right Abscate it was the case on my car.

The whining noise was pretty loud if you had the window open or if you had someone else rev the car in neutral. It was just like an electric motor sound.

I suppose someone unfamiliar with the sound of their own engine might dismiss it as just engine noise but I was pretty familiar with the natural sound of my T5.

Is it kind of a turbine sound? Some time when I start the card and drive off it sounds abit like a turbine in frist two gears. Goes away after abit of driving :).
