Can’t seem to find out what this clunc sound is when going to R.
I have replaced the axle bolts, tightened them, changed drive axle on the left side. Still there is the metallic clunc after R has been engaged. This means there is first the small thump when the gear engages and then half a second later the clunc.
Any idea what could be causing this? Seems to come from middle to left side.
Car is a V50 2007 with 2.4 engine. Transmission fluids have been changed on time.

Did you check your engine mounts? You have two mounts near the transmission: the torque rod mount (Hutchinson 9487349) and the torque arm (31277998--Volvo only...). Those would be coming from the middle... If you get the car on ramps you can see if you have any movement. At this age, it's good to swap them out.

really easy... The weight of the engine is supported by the upper left and upper right mounts. The bottom mounts are only bolts that allow the engine to move forward and backward.
Really straightforward!! (and easy!)

Are the two parts connected with a bolt on the original part or is there some rivet or pin that can’t be removed?
When ordering the two parts separately i guess you don’t get the connecting axle so can you take it from the original part?
